THE PROBLEM
You do not have to read the latest troubling studies & statistics on obesity to see that each year more & more Americans are losing the battle with their weight. We seem to be increasingly unhappy with our bodies, our weight, & the quality & meaning of our lives. Despite compromising our health & many feel they cannot seem to do what it takes to successfully lose weight. The more stressed & anxious we become, the heavier & unhappier we are getting. More is clearly not the answer to the problem. Achieving lasting weight loss & ending the ongoing battle with weight & food requires liberating oneself from the mind set and food that led to weight gain in the first place. According to the National Center for Health Control more than 41% of the adult female population between 34 and 54 is overweight. There is huge gap between the size of the problem and the success rate.  This is a function of how people   go about losing the weight. What makes this approach so different is the way the problem of unhealthy weight gain is viewed. Rather than being only a physical problem, it is treated also as a “mental” (of the mind) problem that requires a more enlightened approach than perhaps the mental health and the world of medicine have provided. Most people ‘know’ how to lose weight; they can’t seem to “just do it” or to keep it off once they lose the weight. Mental also relates to one’s spirit: the will, thoughts, disposition, attitude & mood. Unlike the twelve-step program which is also a spiritual approach for addictions, (food is a powerful addiction) with this program, by making the requisite changes, you learn how to embody & access the power within yourself. One of the most common underlying complaints is that people seem to be struggling with is a lack of fulfillment or contentment. There is a “mental” hunger people are attempting to fill with food that food and eating cannot fill. Ironically, the food eaten that puts on weight is harming us without filling us up and also very addictive. More food does not give us what we really need or help us deal with our “emotional relationship” with food. What we are all looking for is a more meaningful & peaceful existence. Our culture is adept at providing things to temporarily fill up the body & the mind, but it is starving our souls. There is a concept in Buddhism that refers to a condition known as the Hungry Ghosts. The Hungry Ghosts are creatures with very small necks & huge stomachs. Despite their large distended bellies, they are starving because they cannot get enough food down their skinny necks to satisfy their hunger. This does not mean they lose weight; they just end up eternally unsatisfied & overweight

WHAT IS NIRVANA DIET™?
The inspiration for this program came from Asking the Question: How would the Yogis and the Buddha lose weight? The answer came to me in this unique blending of the “wisdom” traditions: a powerful medicine to cure many of our 21st century problems, including obesity, unhappiness, stress, & the dissatisfaction from which so many people seems to suffer

This is called ‘Nirvana’ Diet because nirvana means freedom from or extinction from attachment to desires.  I believe, what is needed is to no longer feel that we want to eat the junk or overeat. The capacity to practice restraint, & forgo immediate gratification without feeling deprived or resistant is the key to achieving the goal. To do that you must feel more “self contented” & less reliant or in need of immediate gratification in the form of food or things outside of yourself. This is accomplished by training the mind. This program shows you how.

The antidote to this mental and spiritual problem cannot be found chasing after yet another fad diet, taking a magic pill, or just attempting to summon more willpower. It requires learning & practicing a process that holds the promise of self-liberation. Inspired by the meaning & purpose of Yoga (which means union with a good state of mind), the teachings of the Buddha, & other wisdom philosophies, I have found that the secret to unlocking the key to achieving health, well-being, & maintaining an ideal weight can be found by practicing mind training s based on meditation and wisdom principles from Yoga. That is why I refer to it as the enlightened path to losing weight. This program teaches you how to liberate yourself from the battle of the bulge, put an end to yo-yo dieting & yo-yo thinking, & achieve increased enlightenment along the way through a very powerful process called PowerFlowTM. ABOUT SKYLER MADISON

Skyler have been in the field of personal improvement for twenty years. Initially my focus in personal improvement was based on the merits & benefits of enhancing the physical appearance. Through my work with plastic surgeons, I developed marketing approaches for women who wanted to improve their appearance with plastic surgery. I soon came to the realization that changing one’s outward appearance can be hollow & unsatisfactory if it does not include a plan to change on the inside as well. This was especially apparent for people who chose plastic surgery as a way to deal with their weight issues. It was appalling to see people undergo the knife & have liposuction performed, only to regain the weight because they had not resolved to do the inner work that was necessary to maintain an ideal weight. Unfortunately, weight gain after liposuction can lead to a distorted physique as new pounds are deposited in all the contiguous areas not touched with liposuction. This fueled my desire to develop a program that would help people change on the inside in order to lay the foundation for the outer behavior changes required for achieving successful & long term weight loss.

I started The Skyler Madison Center for Wellbeing six (6) years ago. The mainstay of our approach is using mind power (training the mind) to enhance willpower, get to the root of, & neutralize the problem that drives unhealthy eating. Unlike therapy, we use a combination of modalities designed to facilitate a shift in the thinking that cultivates a locus of internal control. This internal control is grounded in an approach that facilitates long-term lifestyle transformation.

This evolved from my own experience & growth as a person & practitioner. My credentials include certifications in hypnotism, life coaching, meditation and yoga.

Everything I suggest in this program is based on what I have experienced in my life, & what has worked for my clients & for me. To be successful, I realized that what was needed was to think in a way that matches what we want. To lose weight I had to think like a thinner person. To be confident I had to think confidently. You cannot really make the changes to your behavior unless you do the inner work. This led to a process I call PowerFlowTM that facilitates this internal change.
